Barriers.

For all the barriers that tried it.

For all the free-lunch and latch-key kids who double-dog dared in private.

For all the grannies, and nannies, and abuelitas, who fed us, and made room on fridays.

For all the tee tees, and uncles, who came when we expected da-day -

But. they gave us our first sight of the climate…

Into a time where the next call could show a side to living we never knew as family.

To the intellectual activist who found their superpower in an image on Myspace,

And to the student athlete who just knew college was the only way up and to

And to the new girl and new guy who never really felt at home, moving all around on stipend

from the time they knew who we knew we flew the coop and found solace in whoever seemed to see the same dream

On a scene to be who we dreamed we, nvm..

So for the ones who found their flow when they let go.

We made it.

the 20s made us say it,

famous for surviving the bare minimum..it was designed to strip us of integrity, but that aint scaring me,

weak is for the worried, and there aint a piece of worry in what God sent for me… So, I wrote it

from the generational pain viewed down to the pendle of frustration in our viens, from all the way back to cotton pickin and factory steel tippin, so we gone keep those memories close as we move on as GOATS, and outta those, into fashions they said we’d never step outside in, and that’s on all the mommies

who makin moves with strained family dynamis

and striving for some stability in the picture they never can quite get the right still in, so there goes the woahs, and oh-no’s in tryna find validation in the same places that got us to our knees in God, please.

But really the point is to share my take on surviving the college life that was designed to take us to our knees in “oh man let me stay please”.

You won’t find value here with a closed-mind, or some judgmental mind frame, because there isn’t much difference in the life I’ve lived than the one you’ve lived…

it’s all about how the veil unveils, and I’m glad you’ve come to see, the glimpse of what folx have said “we’re surprised you made it this far.” “why she drive that car?” and “you just don’t fit the par”

There’s something we’ve all heard just trying to be the best we came to be, and it made you stop, question yourself, to see. Do we really need to reevaluate where we wanna be?

and this here, is that written influential of how I overcame to see,

those very hurdles,

that tried to knock me from everything shown to me.

I tucked my head in books, ignored the looks, and focused less on the crooks.

I saw opportunity in dysfunction, and it turned out to be exactly what I needed to function,

So. my favor?

My favor was written in prayers.

And I ask you, who cares about the stares?

Cuz, I can’t.

So, I just wanna share my rendition on the simpleness in existin.
